I actually just kickstarted an interview series with CVS called CVS Proud to Partner.
How does your culture inform your creative work?
Being Black is quite literally the best thing that has ever happened to me in terms of my creativity. Being surrounded by both Ugandan and African American culture provided me with a lens and understanding of creativity that really can’t be taught. Our creativity across the diaspora is so innate and unique. It’s our pathway to survival and success and that inspires me everyday.
What is your greatest struggle/challenge these days?
I think definitely remembering that I’m creative beyond the algorithms. It’s easy to get sucked in to the comparison game.
What does community mean for you as a creative?
Everything. My creativity is fueled by my connection to community. Being able to speak a specific language to my audiences means everything.
What inspires you in your creative process?
Hmm. I think right now, I’m finding creativity in everything. In nature. In intimate moments. In connection. Letting it all flow to me right now.
Is there anything happening in your community that you'd like to shed some light on?
I’d say to keep an eye out on my platforms for future announcements! 🖤
