What have you been working on? Gas yourself!
I've been working on creating as much content as possible. My life has truly changed since I threw myself completely into content creation. I'm working my butt off to secure my (and my future family's future), all while trying to stay present and maintain my reputation. Its easier said than done....truly.
How does your culture inform your creative work?
It's not every day that you see someone that looks like me, talk about home decor and cooking and cleaning. I use my platform to shed toxic masculinity and traditional gender roles in the household. The Black community has very sacred rituals and customs when it comes to cleaning and housework. Some spiritual, some comedic, I use these customs to make my creative work relatable and uplifting to my community.
What is your greatest struggle/challenge these days?
My greatest struggle/challenge these days is finding relief outside of my work. Its come to the point where I am recognized for what I do with not only strangers but my friends and family. Its hard to escape "work" when it has become your identity. I don't have many people in my circle they see me outside of what I do, and those that do see past that I have little interest in engaging with. Its a personal dilemma that I'm putting in the shadow work to mitigate.
What does community mean for you as a creative?
I would not be here doing what I'm doing without the support that I have if it wasn't for my community. It might be hard to believe, but I am inherently shy. I express myself the loudest, digitally. Its’ very rewarding to see the digital support IRL whenever it happens. My community helps to relieve my social anxiety.
What inspires you in your creative process?
What inspires me in the creative process is the end result. I know that can be taboo to say, but I get a thrill whenever I have an idea in my head and I follow the steps to make it happen, apply strategy behind how I share it and then get the expected result (or ever more).
