Christiani Pitts

ACTOR, SINGER & WRITER

“The richness of being a southern Black woman who has transplanted herself in the hustle and bustle of NYC is a constant source of inspiration.”

What have you been working on? Gas yourself!
I have been working on a tv series that I am writing. A dark comedy that explores the mental health challenges of a young mother from Atlanta. I'm also working on my debut EP "White Dress" that will be released in March 2022.

How does your culture inform your creative work?
My culture influences almost everything I create. The richness of being a southern Black woman who has transplanted herself in the hustle and bustle of NYC is a constant source of inspiration. I love witnessing the moments my southern roots mix with my new found New York way of life.

What is your greatest struggle/challenge these days?
Reminding myself to slow down. Pre-Pandemic I would work myself to the bone. It wasn't always healthy. At this point in my life I have to constantly remember to breathe and take a beat.

What does community mean for you as a creative?
Community means support. Community is the undeniable feeling of never being alone or without.

What inspires you in your creative process?
My family is one of my biggest inspiraations. They are my why.

Is there anything happening in your community that you'd like to shed some light on?
The broadway doors have officially opened back up and black playwrights are continuing to change the game. I would encourage anyone who can to go out and support their shows.
